Makati City, Philippines—The Department of Trade and Industry – Bureau of Policy Research and Innovation (DTI-BPRI), in partnership with the International Centre for Industrial Transformation (INCIT), successfully conducted the 40-Hour Smart Industry Readiness Index (SIRI) Training of Assessors on 11–15 August 2025 via MS Teams.

As part of the Enterprise Digital Upgrading (EDUP): Accelerated Executive Competency Program, the five-day training prepared ten Local SIRI Assessor Trainees (LSATs) in becoming future Local Certified SIRI Assessors (CSAs). The sessions, led by SIRI experts Mr. Chooi Yu Chong and Dr. Chua Wen-Shyan, equipped participants with practical knowledge of SIRI’s frameworks, tools, and Official SIRI Assessment (OSA) methodology for application in manufacturing settings.

The EDUP initiative supports national priorities such as the Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028, the Tatak Pinoy (Proudly Filipino) Act, and the Philippine Innovation Act—all of which underscore the importance of innovation, technology adoption, and inclusive growth. It further advances DTI’s Five-Point MSME Agenda by empowering enterprises with the necessary tools and knowledge to thrive in today’s digital economy.

On behalf of Assistant Secretary and Supervising Head of the Competitiveness and Innovation Group, Nylah Rizza D. Bautista, BPRI OIC-Director Atty. Ma. Theresa G. Faustino delivered a message emphasizing the importance of localizing global standards to accelerate inclusive industrial transformation. She noted that developing Local SIRI Assessors is a strategic step to ensure enterprises—particularly MSMEs—receive the right guidance to responsibly and effectively adopt Industry 4.0 technologies.

The completion of this training brings the Philippines closer to establishing a pool of local Certified SIRI Assessors (CSAs) who will play a vital role in advancing Industry 4.0 readiness by helping enterprises identify digital gaps, prioritize technology investments, and implement sustainable transformation strategies.

Strengthened by continued collaboration between government, industry, and partners like INCIT, this milestone marks another step toward building a resilient, innovative, and globally competitive industrial ecosystem. ♦
