PH, Cambodia ink business pacts to boost aviation, logistics, and MSMEs
Phnom Penh, Cambodia—The Philippines has secured five new business agreements with Cambodia, set to generate new jobs, training opportunities, and wider markets for Filipinos during the state visit of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr from September 7 to 8.
The agreements cover key sectors like aviation, logistics, food and beverage, and institutional cooperation, boosting the Philippines’ economic footprint in the ASEAN region.
The highlight was the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Philippines’ WCC Aeronautical and Technological College and Cambodia’s Overseas Cambodian Investment Corporation (OCIC) to establish WCC AeroTech University in Phnom Penh that will create opportunities for Filipino educators and aviation experts while addressing Cambodia’s skills gap.
In logistics, Airspeed International Corp. signed a service agreement with Cambodia’s Bright Star Logistics to manage international shipments, outsourced operations, and cross-trade under a profit-sharing model, strengthening critical supply chain links.
Meanwhile, Philippine distilled spirits producer Destileria Limtuaco & Co. signed a memorandum of agreement with Aus Khmer Import Export Co., Ltd. for the importation, distribution, and promotion of Filipino distilled spirits in Cambodia, expanding export markets for Filipino farmers and distillers.
To empower women-led micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the Women Entrepreneurs’ Network – Women Business Council Philippines (WomenBizPH) and the Cambodia Women Entrepreneurs Network (CamWEN) signed an MOU to co-organize the ASEAN Amazing Weaves Competition and spotlight textile craftsmanship.
Furthering institutional ties, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Business Association in Cambodia (PhilCham) and the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) signed an MOU establishing a framework to promote trade, encourage dialogue, and support joint business events and missions.
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Cristina A. Roque lauded the developments, emphasizing the critical role of these investments in empowering the Filipino workforce and fostering national pride.
“When our companies bring their strengths to ASEAN, it means new jobs for Filipino workers, demand for our educators and entrepreneurs, and greater pride in what we can offer the world. These partnerships reflect Bagong Pilipinas in action: turning diplomacy into real opportunities for our people,” she said.
During the Philippines-Cambodia CEO Roundtable, President Marcos Jr. emphasized that “the partnership agreements here generates jobs, stimulate investment, encourage innovation, and promote inclusive, sustainable growth.” ♦
