On 12 July 2025, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) in Toronto, joined fintech leaders LemFi and GCash in celebrating their new partnership at iSLAS Filipino Cafe & Bar in Toronto. The collaboration aims to provide over one million Filipinos in Canada with faster, safer, and more affordable cross-border financial services.

The event featured key figures from both organizations, including Mr. Philip Daniel, Head of Global Expansion & India at LemFi, and Ms. Martha Sazon, President & CEO of Mynt (GCash’s parent company). They were joined by officials from the Philippine Consulate General in Toronto, and other government agencies.

PTIC-Toronto Trade Commissioner Mario Tani emphasized the significance of the partnership in advancing financial inclusion for Filipino-Canadians, noting that secure, real-time money transfers through GCash will offer families a more efficient way to stay connected and supported across borders.

This milestone not only promotes digital financial empowerment but also strengthens economic and community ties between the Philippines and Canada. ♦
